From Small-Scale Manufacturing to Projects Across the Globe: Huisman Czech Republic Celebrates 29 Years
Sviadnov, 15 April, 2026 – Huisman Czech Republic is marking 29 years since the establishment of its plant in Sviadnov. The company was founded in 1997 as a manufacturing facility focused on simple structures. Today, it designs and manufactures technologically advanced equipment for the energy sector, maritime transport, port logistics and the entertainment industry. The Czech facility is part of Huisman, a globally operating company headquartered in the Netherlands.
A major milestone in the company’s development came in 2000, when it established its own engineering department. This enabled the Czech plant to gradually move from producing simpler structures to developing and delivering technically demanding Huisman projects. “Over nearly thirty years, we have come a long way. Thanks to our experienced team of specialists, we are now involved in Sviadnov not only in manufacturing, but also in the design and development of high value-added equipment that is shipped all over the world,” says Karel Pavlíček, Managing Director of Huisman Czech Republic.
Among the company’s key products are Offshore Cranes. As early as 2014, the Czech plant contributed to the production of the two largest Shipboard Cranes in the world, each with a lifting capacity of 10,000 tonnes, intended for the vessel Sleipnir. In 2024, Czech engineers brought to life the largest crane ever independently manufactured in the history of Huisman Czech Republic. It stands 225 metres tall and is used for the installation of wind turbines.
Over the years, Huisman Czech Republic has also been involved in a number of other remarkable projects. Components for Roller Coasters, Observation Wheels and the Sky Shuttle platform have been manufactured in Sviadnov. The Czech facility was also behind the development and production of the LOC 400 Mobile Drilling Rig, a revolutionary system for the installation of wind turbine foundations, and a 600-tonne device for the maintenance of subsea wells.
Alongside large-scale projects, the company is also developing its own technologies. The first certified 3D-printed hooks for offshore cranes in the world were created in Sviadnov, some with a lifting capacity of up to 250 tonnes. The company is also investing in modern welding technologies, robotisation and its own welding school.
Huisman Czech Republic has also long been committed to cooperation with schools. Students from secondary schools and universities complete work placements, internships and study visits there, gaining experience from real operational practice.
