There is still a critical shortage of welders in the Czech Republic. Huisman is training its own in Sviadnov
Sviadnov, November 20, 2024 – Huisman Czech Republic is accelerating welder qualification and integration into production with the help of a new metallographic testing facility. An investment of CZK 500,000 enables more efficient and flexible evaluation of welding tests.
Huisman Czech Republic has launched its own metallographic testing facility in Sviadnov. The new facility focuses on work-related and pre-production welder testing. “Our in-house welding school, combined with the newly launched metallographic testing lab, allows us to better address the shortage of qualified welders in the market. In-house training and qualification of welders will help integrate graduates of our welding school into production more quickly,” explained Karel Pavlíček, Managing Director of Huisman Czech Republic, on the reasons for the investment.
The new testing lab is equipped with state-of-the-art devices for material cutting and sample surface preparation. Weld evaluations are conducted through macroscopic inspections using a 3D camera, which transmits images to a computer for detailed analysis using specialized software.
The lab also reduces the administrative burden associated with external testing. “Previously, we had to send welder samples to external laboratories and wait weeks for results. Now, we can evaluate samples within a few days, enabling us to respond more flexibly to production needs. The new lab thus contributes to greater flexibility and cost reduction in welder qualification,” said Antonín Jedinák, Welding Engineer at Huisman Czech Republic.
Huisman Czech Republic plans to further develop the facility in the future, expanding its capacity to include additional types of testing.
